My idea for a thesis for my King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters paper is as follows:
The filmmakers of The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters wanted to show that corruption can sink its poisonous fangs into anything, even something as seemingly innocent as classic video game enthusiasts.
The first part of my paper will be about the history around twin galaxies and how the corruption started early in its formation. After that, I will move onto how the corruption of twin galaxies went onto affect the events of the movie, mainly how hard it was for Steve just to get his score recognized, but also how it is relevant through the movie. The third part of my paper will be about why the filmmakers chose to make the documentary about this theme as opposed to others. The fourth part of my paper is a secret (I haven’t thought of it yet, that’s the secret (oops))
Some points in the film where there is obvious corruption:
-Billy being on the panel of judges to accept Steve’s score
– Walter Day accepting a tape from Billy, but making Steve’s tape non recognized and making him come down to Funspot and play live
-All of the judges for twin galaxies are good friends and therefore biased
-Since no one likes Roy Schilt, he gets his Missile Command score taken away
-There was no real third party to see if billy’s machine was tampered with or not, no expert in board construction or anything like that
-Everybody gets to see Steve get his live high-score, but no one lets Steve see Billy’s tape of him getting over one million.
I think your thesis statement is great! It is really descriptive and I think corruption plays a major role in this documentary. Your paper seems very organized and your thoughts for each topic are coherent. You made note of several good examples of corruption in the film that will be sure to support the thesis of your essay.

I agree with Emily that you have a great thesis! It makes me want to continue reading your paper to see what else you are going to say. You have good ideas so far and I think that this is the foundation for an interesting paper! I definitely agree that there is an element of corruption throughout this film.
